The 5 More Minutes timer: a fox walks a woodland path toward a picnic blanket for the meal, under a card reading Playground to Meal with 2:30 left, and a Pause button below.

No. 01

5 More Minutes

A gentle transition timer that helps young children move from one part of the day to the next.

Leaving the playground, turning off a show, heading to the bath: the hard part is often the change itself. 5 More Minutes gives a child something to watch while the time runs down. An animal companion walks toward the next activity as the countdown plays out, then arrives, calmly, right on time.

Caregivers set up the routines and choose a scene, and when a transition needs adjusting or ending early, the controls are in a panel a caregiver swipes up from the bottom of the timer. There are no points, streaks, or prizes, just a clear picture of how long is left. With Across devices turned on, your routines, activities and saved adventures stay in step through your own iCloud account, and you can share them with your household. Nothing goes to a server of ours, and we can’t see any of it.

Kihitsu's writing screen on iPad, asking for the word yama, mountain, from memory, with the kanji written in the practice square.

No. 02

Kihitsu

Learn to write Japanese by hand on iPad, with feedback on every stroke.

Kihitsu (起筆) is the calligrapher’s word for the first touch of the brush, and the app is built around that moment. Write a kana or kanji with Apple Pencil and Kihitsu checks each stroke as you make it: its order, its direction, and its shape.

Follow a course or build lists of your own, and spaced review brings each character back just as it starts to fade. Everything, including the checking, happens on your iPad. There is no account, no advertising, and no tracking.
