5 More Minutes privacy policy
Effective · Last updated
5 More Minutes is a transition timer that caregivers use together with young children. It is made by Moonbee Labs, LLC (“we”). This policy explains what the app does with information. The short version: the app does not collect personal information. Everything you set up stays on your device and, if you turn on Across devices, in iCloud, where we cannot see it. If you share with your household, the people you invite see what you keep in the app, including photographs and voice recordings. We never do.
What we collect
We do not collect personal information from anyone who uses the app, whether a caregiver or a child. The app has:
- no accounts or sign-in of its own (Across devices and sharing use the Apple Account already signed in on your device)
- no analytics or usage tracking
- no advertising
- no third-party software development kits that collect data
- no servers of our own
- no tracking across other companies’ apps or websites
The app does not send the information you enter to us. If you turn on Across devices, Apple stores your routines, your own activities and your choices in iCloud, so your other devices can use them, and your saved adventures too if they are included. If you share with your household, the people you invite get all of that too. If you share a single routine with someone, they get that routine and nothing else. You choose who, and you can stop sharing at any time. We cannot see any of it.
What stays on your device
To work, the app saves these things in its own storage on your device:
- Your settings: your chosen scene and character, day or evening, sound effects, the instrument the sounds are played on, music and the tune, reduced motion, the finishing reminder, the timer-end notification, and whether the check meant for adults is switched on.
- Your routines and journeys: the activities in each one, the time allowed, any scene or tune you choose for it, and any name you give it, such as “Playground to Meal, 5 minutes”.
- Your own activities: if you make an activity of your own, its name, a photograph you take or choose for it, kept at a smaller size, and a recording of your voice saying its name.
- The current timer: the activities, the time allowed, and how much time has passed, so a timer can continue after the app closes or the phone restarts.
- Your subscription status: a saved copy of whether Pro or the free trial is active, so the right scenes are available offline.
- Saved adventures: if you use this feature, a photograph you take or choose, an optional voice recording, an optional title, and an optional plan to come back to it. The photograph is kept at about the size of a phone screen.
Every photograph, for an adventure or for an activity, is saved as a new picture made from its pixels alone, so the location and other details a photo can carry are not kept. Photographs and recordings are ordinary image and audio files in the app’s own storage.
We cannot see any of this, on your device or in iCloud. If you back up your device with iCloud or to a computer, Apple includes app data in those backups under Apple’s own terms.
In iCloud, if you choose
If you turn on Across devices in the app’s caregiver settings, Apple keeps a copy of these in iCloud, so they are the same on every device signed in to your Apple Account:
- Your routines and journeys: the ones you saved and any change you made to the starter routines, including the scene and tune you chose for each and any name you give it, which may be your child’s name.
- Your own activities: their names, photographs and recordings.
- Your choices: the scene and character, day or evening, the instrument the sounds are played on, the tune, the finishing reminder, and whether saved adventures are included.
- Your saved adventures, only if they are included: their photographs, voice recordings, titles and plans go to iCloud only while “Include saved adventures” is on. It is off until someone turns it on. It is one setting for all your devices and, if you share with a household, for everyone in it, and inviting someone to your household turns it on.
Everything else above stays only on the device where you set it, including the current timer, your subscription status, whether the check meant for adults is switched on, sound effects, whether music plays, reduced motion, and notifications.
The copy in iCloud is kept in the private iCloud storage of the Apple Account it belongs to: yours, or, if you join someone else’s household, the account of the person who started it. It counts toward that account’s iCloud storage and is kept under Apple’s own terms. We cannot see it.
When you turn Across devices off, that device stops sending and receiving. When “Include saved adventures” is off, saved adventures aren’t sent or received. What is already in iCloud stays there until it is removed, as described under “Deleting what you saved”.
Sharing with your household
You can invite your partner, or anyone else you care for a child with, to share your household, in caregiver settings under “Share with your household”. This needs Across devices, which inviting turns on.
What the people in your household get. Everything you keep in the app is shared with them and kept the same on their phone:
- your routines and journeys, with their names, scenes and tunes;
- your own activities, with their photographs and your voice saying their names;
- your saved adventures, with their photographs, voice messages, titles and plans, while saved adventures are included (inviting someone turns this on);
- your choices: the scene and character, day or evening, the instrument, the tune and the finishing reminder.
Sound effects, whether music plays, reduced motion, notifications, the check meant for adults and the subscription stay separate on each phone.
Who can see it. Only the people you invite and who accept. The invitation goes through Apple’s own sharing sheet, and the app does not read your contacts. Everything shared is kept in the iCloud account of the person who started the household, in Apple’s private storage for shared data, and reaches each member’s phone through iCloud. Everyone in the household can add to, change and delete what is shared, and a change reaches everyone. We cannot see any of it: we run no server, and we have no access to anyone’s iCloud data.
Joining a household. Before you join, the app shows what will appear on your phone and asks you to tap Join. When you join, what you have saved in the app is added to the household for everyone, and the household’s scene, sound and tune choices replace yours. What you had in your own iCloud before joining stays there, unused, until you remove it.
Leaving or being removed. Anyone who leaves, or whom the person who started the household removes, keeps a copy of everything that is already on their phone, including photographs and voice recordings. It stops staying in step with the household, and nothing new reaches them. Removing someone cannot take back what is already on their phone, so invite only people you would trust with these photographs and recordings.
Stopping sharing.
- If you started the household: “Change who’s in your household” opens Apple’s sharing sheet, where you can remove one person or stop sharing with everyone.
- If you joined someone’s household: Tap “Leave [their name]’s household”, in “Your household”, to leave it. The app asks first.
- Remove from iCloud (see “Deleting what you saved”) also ends a household that you started.
Sharing one routine
You can also share a single routine or journey with someone outside your household, such as a grandparent or a babysitter, from that routine’s page. They see that routine, including its name, scene and tune, and the names of any of your own activities it uses, and, if you allow it, they can change it. They never see your photographs or voice recordings, of an activity or an adventure, your choices, your saved adventures, or any other routine. Where a shared routine uses one of your own activities, their phone shows its name and nothing else. You can stop sharing at any time, from Apple’s sharing sheet for that routine; when sharing ends, the routine is removed from their phone.
If another caregiver shares a routine with you this way, it is kept on your device and in that caregiver’s iCloud account, and any change you are allowed to make reaches them too.
Deleting what you saved
You can delete a saved adventure or an activity you made, remove everything from iCloud, and deleting the app deletes the rest.
-
A saved adventure. Deleting it removes its photograph, its voice recording and its record from the app’s storage on your device. If saved adventures are included, it is also removed from iCloud, from your other devices and from the phones of everyone in your household. It is behind the check meant for adults, and the app asks you to confirm it first, because it cannot be undone.
-
An activity you made. Deleting it removes it, its photograph and its recording from your device, and takes it out of the routines that use it, deleting any routine that would be left with too few activities. If Across devices is on, the same happens in iCloud, on your other devices, on the phones of everyone in your household, and on the phones of anyone you shared those routines with. It is in caregiver settings, behind the check meant for adults, and the app asks you to confirm it first.
-
Everything in iCloud. Remove from iCloud, under Across devices in caregiver settings, deletes the copy in your own iCloud account, including your saved adventures and your own activities, and ends any routine you shared on its own, so the people you shared it with lose it. What is on your devices stays. The app asks you to confirm it first, and says what will happen:
- If you started a household, it ends the household. Everyone in it keeps what is already on their phone, but stops getting changes.
- If you joined someone else’s household, it deletes only what is in your own iCloud account, and you stay in the household. What the household shares is kept in the iCloud account of the person who started it, so to stop sharing it, leave the household.
You can also delete the app’s iCloud data from iCloud storage in the Settings app on any of your devices.
-
Routines someone shared with you. Stop using, under Across devices, removes them from your device. This is for routines shared on their own; a household is left as described above.
-
Everything on a device. Deleting the app deletes what is on that device. It does not delete the copies on other people’s phones in your household.
We hold nothing ourselves, so there is nothing for us to delete and nothing for you to ask us to delete. If you backed up your device before deleting something, that backup still holds it, under Apple’s own terms.
Permissions
- Notifications (optional). If you turn on the timer-end notification, the app asks for permission to show notifications. The notification is created and delivered on your device; nothing is sent to us. You can turn it off in the app or in the Settings app.
- Camera (optional). If you choose to photograph something to save as an adventure or for an activity you make, the app asks for permission to use the camera. The photograph is saved on your device and, if you choose, in iCloud for you and your household.
- Photos (optional). If you choose a photograph you already have instead of taking one, iOS shows you a picker and hands the app only the picture you pick. The app does not read your photo library.
- Microphone (optional). If you record your child talking about an adventure you are saving, or your own voice saying the name of an activity you make, the app asks for permission to use the microphone. The recording is saved on your device and, if you choose, in iCloud for you and your household.
- The app does not use your contacts or your location.
You can use the app fully without granting any of these. Nothing you photograph or record is sent to us. It reaches other people only if you share with your household, and never through a single shared routine.
Subscriptions and purchases
Subscriptions and free trials are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your name, email address, or payment details. The app asks the App Store only whether a subscription or trial is active. Sharing with your household does not share the subscription; Pro shared through Apple’s Family Sharing does. Apple’s handling of purchases is described in Apple’s privacy policy.
Diagnostics from Apple
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and app performance statistics. Apple does not identify you in these reports, and you can turn this off at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Links
The app contains links to this policy and to the terms of use. They open in your web browser, behind a check meant for adults unless a caregiver has switched that check off in settings. Websites you visit are covered by their own policies.
Children
The app is made for caregivers to use together with children. It does not collect personal information from children, contains no advertising, and nothing a child can reach in it contacts anyone. A photograph or voice recording saved with an adventure or an activity stays in the app’s storage on your device and, if you choose, in iCloud. We never receive it. If you share with your household, the people you invite see it and keep a copy on their phones, so choose them as you would choose who sees a family photo album. Someone you share a single routine with never sees it.
Routines you share on their own go only to the people you invite, with their names and the names of any of your own activities they use. A routine or an activity can be named after your child, so choose the names you are comfortable sharing. Inviting someone, changing settings, opening links, and anything to do with the subscription are in screens behind a check meant for adults. That check is on when the app is installed, and a caregiver can switch it off in settings.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app handles information differently, we will update this policy before that version is released and change the effective date above.
